Fall 2015 Home Decor Trends

Since April furniture market, we've been scouring magazines, catalogs, and online to see what's the latest and hottest trends for Fall. We're excited to share our top 6 (because I couldn't keep it to 5) favorites with you and some ideas on how you can incorporate them in your own home!

Fall Trend #1: The Color Navy
It's been out there and it's not going away. We've been incorporating Navy in our client's homes for the past two years and are still in love. It's a classic hue that stands the test of time and pairs great with whites, creams, coral, emerald, gold, and gray.

We talked about Navy paint in last month's Saturated Color Post. Here are our four favorite Navy paint colors!

Fall Trend #2: Rubbed Brass
Yup, we keep talking about it. Brass is back! It has been the predominant metal color at High Point furniture market for the past 2 years and it's finally making it's debut main stage. Not ready for the full pluge? Read our post about Mixing Metals on how you can incorporate hints of this in your home without changing out all of your doorknobs and light fixtures.

Fall Trend #3: White Walls
Speaking of white, have you noticed that not only have white kitchens taken over, but so have White walls? I have always been a fan of having at least something on the wall to get rid of the "builder beige", but all of these fresh white rooms have really intrigued me. I'm jumping on board! Be on the lookout for a family room update in my own home that incorporates the color "Snowbound" by Sherwin Williams.

Fall Trend #4: Curated Gallery Walls
Everyone loves the idea of hanging something on their walls to means something to them, but who really has one thing big enough to fill even one of these LARGE walls that seem to be gracing our homes these days? Fear not!! The concept of "curated" or "found" gallery walls is becoming hugely popular, and it seems that the more eclectic, the better! Have postcards from your honeymoon that you've never figured out what to do with? Frame them!! Bought a (small) piece of original artwork at the art crawl in your neighborhood last year? Hang it on the wall! Your child brought home a black and white drawing that you absolutely love (and are so impressed that your child, YOUR child?! drew it)? Put it up there, too!

The only guidance I think that is needed here is to collect a bunch of items, frame most of them in simple frames (mix in a few different ones and maybe 1 or 2 ornate ones) and lay it all out on the floor before hanging them up on the wall. You can make paper templates of all of your items to tape up on the wall before hanging to make sure that it's all going to be at the right height before you start actually hanging (we could actually probably write a whole blog post on this.....more later!)

For now, here are some GREAT pictures of ones we have seen!

Fall Trend #5: Velvet
No, those velvet broomstick skirts from the 90's are not what we're talking about. Warm, soft, scrumptious velvet has been making a comeback over the past year in pillows and upholstery and we love it! It gives just a small amount of glam, and bringing in some texture and shimmer gives all of that neutral decor some interest.

Fall Trend #6: The Color GRAY
I know this is no surprise - we've been seeing it and are all obsessed! Gray is the new neutral and it seems that right now the grayer, the better. My paint choices for clients seem to be getting grayer and grayer, and dark charcoal sofas just really speak to me these days. It's one color and trend that we can't ignore.

Did we miss your favorite up and coming trend? We'd love to hear what you are feeling good about for Fall!!
